As part of the Ulmus Maritime project, you can now report elm trees and possible sightings of Dutch elm disease in Sussex when you’re on your next countryside ramble with the Open Elm app.
Originally developed for the Isle of Man, the App from the Open Elm Project can now be used on the Sussex coast too. You can also report elms online through the Ulmus Maritime website with the online map. Your help is also needed with reporting any possible sightings of wildlife that rely on the elms, including rare butterflies, moths and lichen.
You can also report signs of Dutch elm disease by calling East Sussex County Council on 0345 60 80 193.
To download the Open Elm app search for it in your iPhone or Android app stores, or use your computer by visiting the online map page.
