Bamboo framed fixed wheel and single speed bikes are now being imported by UK company, RAW Bamboo Bikes, who already sell high end bamboo road and mountain bikes.

The single speed city and track bikes are made in California using locally grown bamboo cost £1200 for an all black version and colour versions start at £1500.

 Bamboo is a fast growing grass requiring  significantly less land and water to grow than other trees, and can absorb up to 5 times more CO2 and release up  to 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees.  It can be harvested after 4 – 5 years, and re-grows easily.
